Isolated and solubilized mitochondria (0.25 mg protein/mL) were treated with the indicated concentrations of acetic anhydride for 10 min at room temperature. Aconitase activity was measured in a coupled reaction as the rate of NADP+ reduction by isocitrate dehydrogenase with sodium citrate added as the substrate. Values are presented as the mean ± SEM (n = 3). Statistically significant differences, p<0.05, are designated with an asterisk (*)
