a Exposure was calculated by multiplying the mean PM2.5 concentration for each test by the boiling time. Background concentrations were subtracted from mean PM2.5 concentrations. Background PM2.5 was calculated from measurements taken during the 30-min period before the water boiling test began. Summary measures were created for the stove and fuel combinations in the table; b PM2.5 concentrations were not adjusted for background levels due to resultant negative values.
