Expression levels of miRs involved in monocyte differentiation and polarization changes with alcohol intake. (AD) Monocytes isolated from individuals before and 24 h after acute alcohol binge were cocultured in the presence of HCV concentrate or control concentrate for 7 d. The cells were harvested and the expression of miR-27a, miR-146a, miR-132, and miR-155 were assayed by qRT-PCR, and data were normalized to RNU48 control. The fold increase in the expression of these miRs versus nonstimulated cells is shown. The data are represented as means ± SEM of at least four independent experiments. *p < 0.05. #p < 0.05 compared with “No EtOH” group. EtOH, ethanol.
