Alignment of the first 25 amino acids of T. brucei calflagins, the T. cruzi FCaBP and AK3 from T. brucei, T. b. gambiense, T. evansi and T. congolense with conserved residues indicated in colour. The glycine and the cysteine used for myristoylation and palmitoylation of calflagins are shown in red and blue, respectively. The lysine residues are highlighted in yellow while short amino acids (serine, glycine, alanine) always found in positions 4–6 are highlighted in green.
