Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

-Francis of Assisi

The year began with the novel thinking of conducting program for the members in collaboration with other specialty dental organizations that will benefit the members of the collaborating organization equally.

The idea was welcomed by the Executive Committee members, and the idea was received very well by the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, and the program was conducted on May 9th at Bengaluru. The Indian Society of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) is another specialty organization that has come forward to conduct the National Symposium on periodontal problems in pediatric patients on 18th and 19th July at Nagpur. The support rendered by the ISPPD is tremendous, and are going to publish the proceedings in their journal as well. I thank both the associations and their office bearers tremendously for having placed good faith in our society and coming forward to conduct these programs. It would not be a far cry if we could conduct these programs with the other specialties as well.

The concept of training of teachers is now synonymous with ISP. This year too, we saw tremendous participation by life members at Vijayawada in the month of June and are expecting the same zeal and zest for the program coming up at Vadodara on 24–26th July. I request the life members to utilize this opportunity and take part in the program.

On May 13th, the PEP program in a place so distant – Imphal, Manipur was conducted. A mere thank you to Dr. Sinam Subhaschandra is not sufficient who took great pains in organizing the program and had over 100 dentists attend the program. Members like him are the real strength and back bone of a society like ours who want to spread the importance of the specialty to the general public.

The other program integrate on implants was a resounding success in Kodaikanal. So was the program on Lasers at Coorg. A very good and meticulously arranged program at both these places was engineered by Dr. Sudharson and Dr. Jagadish Pai, respectively.

The essay competition has seen good response again this year and the evaluation process is in progress. We hope to receive the results soon this year. Oral hygiene day, as every year will be celebrated on 1st August. I request all the members to actively participate in the event and spread the message of oral hygiene to the general public.

The grand event of the year, the National Conference is in October end, i hope all the members would have registered and would be eagerly waiting to hear Prof. Jorgen Slots, Prof. Kornman and Dr. Romanos.

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says “I'm possible”!
