Increased AMPKSer-485 and Tau phosphorylation in db/db and HFD mouse brains. Cortex from 24-week-old db/db (A) or 20-week-old HFD (B–D) mouse were homogenized in TPER buffer. The lysates were immunoblotted with the indicated antibodies. The relative density of phosphorylated AMPK over total AMPK (A and B) and phosphorylated Tau (pTau) over total Tau (Tau5) (C) from the same mouse was measured after immunoblotting. Phosphorylation of IRS-1, Akt, and ERK, the important signaling components of insulin signaling, was also examined from control and HFD cortex (D). The results are means ± S.E. of at least six animals per group, and the representative blots are shown. *, p < 0.05 by t test.
