MiRNAs were quantified by qRT-PCR, normalised to spiked ath-miR-159a, and fold changes were defined as the ratio of serum miRNA abundance in infected mice to naive mice (A, C57BL/6; B, BALB/c). Statistical significance between infected and naive mice was determined using 1-Way ANOVA. Comparisons of relative serum abundance of miRNAs between C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice at 4–11 weeks p.i. were determined using 2-Way ANOVA (C). (* = P<0.05, ** = P<0.01, *** = P<0.001, **** = P<0.0001, ns = no significant difference).
