First-order rate constants for RT-qPCR amplification of the NSP3 gene (k_damage) associated with binding (both corrected and uncorrected k′_binding and k_{observed_binding}, respectively) and viral NSP3 gene synthesis (k_{observed_synthesis}) and rotavirus infectivity (k_infectivity) upon exposure to the indicated treatments. Data from at least two separate experiments were aggregated and plotted as ln(FFU_t or RT-qPCR_t/FFU₀ or RT-qPCR₀) versus treatment time (hours), and the negative slope and the standard error are the first-order rate constants and error bars, respectively, shown in the bar chart. The k′_binding rate constant was corrected to account for the rate constant stemming from treatment alone. One asterisk (*) denotes that k_damage did not deviate from 0 (P > 0.05); two asterisks (**) denote that k′_binding was assigned a value of zero because there was no statistical difference between k_damage and k_{observed_binding} (P > 0.05).
