Observed increase in pyrethroid resistance in Anopheles funestus mosquitoes in Manhiça, as measured by decreased mortality after exposure. From undetectable levels in 2002, resistance to deltamethrin and permethrin has increased drastically; in early 2014, less than one-third of exposed mosquitoes were killed by an hour-long exposure to either chemical. Resistance to lambda-cyhalothrin has reached similar levels, increasing from 40% to almost complete resistance since 2009 [11; this study, 12].
