A, Cerebral arteries were labeled with antibodies against smooth muscle actin (green) and CaV3.2 (red). Labeling of CaV3.2 ran perpendicular (arrowheads) to the longitudinal axis of smooth muscle cells (SMCs; arrow) in regions devoid of smooth muscle actin. Bottom, Smooth muscle actin and CaV3.2 are displayed separately. B, Immunohistochemical staining of RyR (red) localized to areas where actin (green) was absent. Magnified panels show RyR was perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of SMCs. C, CaV1.2 labeling (arrowheads) was parallel to the longitudinal axis of SMCs (arrow).
