Sham: sham operated control; I/R: rabbits subjected to myocardial ischemia reperfusion (MI/R); Cap: rabbits treated with captopril (25 mg/kg given intravenously 24 h) prior to inducing MI/R; Iso: rabbits received isoflurane preconditioning (15 min 1.1% end tidal isoflurane followed by a 15 min washout period before inducing MI/R); Iso+Cap: rabbits received captopril in combination with Iso.
