The odds of having a chronic CV disease are 50%, for hypertension 85%, and for chronic heart failure 20%. At age 70, the lifetime risk of CVD in individuals free of disease is virtually the same as that at age 40, and is indicative of the extremely high likelihood for incurring CVD during one’s lifetime.
