Values are averages (N = 3) ± SEM. Initial rates of degradation of different concentrations of substrate by ClpX variants (0.1 μM), ClpP (0.3 μM), and ATP (4 mM) were determined and fit to the Michaelis-Menten equation to determine KM and Vmax values (Fig. S4) or were taken from Iosefson et al. (2015) (Table S1).
