(ad) The addition of the nonadsorbing PS polymer effectively prevented crack formation in the dried colloidal drops with rS ~ 100 nm, ϕ0 ~ 0.1, and R0 ~ 1.4 mm, as the concentration increased from Cp = 0 to 4.0 mg/ml. In particular, almost all cracks were removed in (d), for Cp = 4.0 mg/ml (Supplementary Movie 2). The total crack density (e) and the total crack length (f), determined from (ad), provide quantitative evidence for the gelation-mediated crack prevention.
