Neutrophils are present in spinal cord lesions in both WT → WT and IFNGR−∕− → WT chimeras, but are only present in the brain stem of IFNGR−∕− → WT chimeras. The generation of BM chimeras and EAE induced were performed as for Figures 1, 2, respectively. On day 10 after EAE induction mice were perfused and frozen sections (10 μm) of the spinal cord and brain stem were generated as described (Shriver and Dittel, 2006). The sections were stained with anti-mouse CD11b (blue), anti-mouse TCRβ (green), and anti-mouse Ly6C (red) and visualized by confocal microscopy. Scale bar: 20 μm.
