Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) reduces extracellular glutamate and glycine in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) in vivo. Mice (n = 8–10/treatment) received a local infusion of NRG1 (10nM), PCP (10 µM), or NRG1 + PCP for 10min in the PFC by retrodialysis. Extracellular GABA (A & B), glutamate (C & D), and glycine (E & F) levels are expressed as a percentage of the respective mean baseline value ± standard error of the mean for each time point (A, C, E) or baseline equivalent for area under the curve analysis (B, D, F).
