Where × = 0.111 protein cost, y = 0.0183-energy cost.

Obtained from: maize (8.6% CP, 3300 kcal/kgME) and soyabean meal (48%CP, 2550 kcal/kgME) as reference energy and protein ingredients respectively. Given the cost prize for maize and soyabean at the time of the experiment -₦70.00 and ₦100.00 respectively.

Hence 86x + 3300y = 70------equation 1 and 480 × + 2550y = 100 -------equation 2.
