Binding site strategies for attaching DNA conjugated AuNPs onto DNA nanostructures. Nanostructures with one tether (1×), two tethers (2×), and four tethers (4×) per binding site correlate the probability of site-occupation to the number of tethers per binding site. A binding site is a cluster of tethers with either a α or β sequence. The grey nested trench axially aligns nanoparticles between two cross-linked nanotubes to form a nanorail.7
