Postprandial gallbladder volumes in response to a fatty meal in OVX mice treated with E2 and fed the lithogenic diet for 12 days. Duodenal infusion of corn oil stimulates the release of CCK from the upper part of the small intestine. As a result, the secreted CCK induces gallbladder emptying in GPR30(−/−)/ERα(−/−) mice but not in OVX wild-type, GPR30(−/−), and OVX ERα(−/−) mice, indicating that gallbladder contractile function is impaired in the latter three groups of mice.
