More “swap” memory errors were associated with smaller left posterior hippocampal volumes (r = −0.27, p = 0.048), where the breast cancer survivors and non-cancer control participants differed in brain volume. “Swaps” occur when objects switch positions between study and reconstruction, and hippocampal amnesics have been found to show more “swaps” on this task (Watson et al., 2013).
