Lack of effect of systemically applied riluzole on spinal withdrawal thresholds. Induction of arthritis significantly reduced hindlimb withdrawal thresholds measured by mechanical compression of the knee joint. Systemic application of vehicle (HBC, 30 %, i.p.; n = 11 rats) or riluzole (8 mg/kg, i.p.; n = 7 rats) had no effect compared to predrug values.
