Composition of biomasses from the three jellyfish species Aurelia sp.1, C. tuberculata and R. pulmo. The polar solvent extraction with 80% methanol (treatment A) or 80% ethanol (treatment B) or phosphate buffered saline (PBS) (treatment C) was followed by enzymatic digestion with pepsin and then collagenase. Data are presented as the mean of three independent experiments in triplicate and are expressed as mg of protein per gram of dry weight ± standard deviation (SD) and as percentage of the total proteins. Chicken collagen was used for comparison and as a control for the hydrolysis reactions.
