Group I	Patients with fasting blood sugar levels greater than 130 mg/dL or with a known history of diabetes mellitus	Maxillofacial infections of nonodontogenic origin
Group II	Patients presenting with maxillofacial infections of odontogenic origin and fasting sugar levels less than 130 mg/dL with no previous history of medical management of hyperglycemia	Patients taking antibiotics before reporting to our unit
