Co-staining with the pericyte marker NG2 demonstrates that PDGFRß positive cells are immunoreactive for NG2 at day 5 after brain trauma (A). Note the typical perinuclear expression of NG2. In addition we found that some PDGFRß positive cells expressed the pericyte marker Desmin (B). Note that NG2 is a perinuclear protein whilst Desmin is an intracellular filament protein. Therefore both markers do not totally overlap with PDGFRß due to their different subcellular localization.
