QH: Quarter Horse; STB: Standardbred. Clinical scores were assessed as defined by Robinson [15]. Septum thickness was assessed as defined by Koblinger [16]. Ante mortem BAL data were not available. Pulmonary mechanics were available only for one horse, as it belonged to our research herd.
