Changes in ion channel and pendrin expression in response to IL-13 treatment (10 ng/ml). In both the control (n = 3) and SLC26A4 mutant (DFNB4) (n = 3) nasal epithelia, ENaCβ and γ expression are suppressed, and ANO-1 expression is greatly increased (by more than 50 fold) following IL-13 treatment. In the control epithelia, pendrin is also upregulated (approximately 100 fold) following IL-13 treatment. *indicates P < 0.05.
