SSEA-4 defines a distinct subpopulation of DU145 cells. (A) Display of SSEA-4 expression on DU145 cells. Sort windows R1 and R2 were set and cells were sorted on a FACS Aria cell sorter. (B) Morphology of SSEA-4+ and SSEA-4− cells. When cultured, SSEA-4+ DU145 cells gave rise to fibroblast-like colonies with limited cell–cell contacts.
