The proportions are expressed as percentages in the 5-year periods 2003–2007 and 2008–2012. The proportions were determined by dividing the sum of the numbers of publications (reviews excluded) in all the countries where English is the primary language by the sums of the numbers of publications (reviews excluded) in all countries of the world. For countries that we considered to have English as primary language see the data file (sheet 21).
