The molecular mass marker (lane 1) indicates altered production of an ∼50-kDa protein in the wild-type (lane 2) and ΔyihO (lane 3) strains. The bands were excised, analyzed by mass spectrometry, and determined to correspond to FljB (phase II) and FliC (phase I) flagellins in the wild-type and ΔyihO strains, respectively.
