LpdA activity in the cell disrupts the Golgi apparatus. HeLa cells were transfected with pRK5 HA-LpdA WT, pRK5 HA-LpdA KK165/376RR (KKRR), pRK5 HA-LpdAΔ5aa, or pRK5 HA-GFP and immunostained for HA and the Golgi protein Giantin. Samples were imaged (A), and the integrity of the Golgi apparatus was assessed in 100 transfected cells (B). Full and dotted arrows in the panel A inset image highlight Giantin-positive fragments and LpdA-containing vesicles, respectively, which do not colocalize.
