The addition of HA stimulates proliferation of BPH-1 cells, but not PEC or LNCaP. Cells were placed on young collagen gels and exposed to culture medium/1% FBS (black bars) or medium/1% FBS with the addition of 10 µg/ml of purified 250 kDa HA (gray bars). Proliferation (measured at 72 h) of BPH-1 (B), but not PEC (A) or LNCaP (C), was significantly stimulated in the presence of HA. Medium with 10% FBS (white bars) served as a positive control.
