Cortical rendering views of binary classification results. Seven binary classification tests between human vocalizations and each of the 7 other nonhuman categories consistently revealed significant voxels bilaterally in the superior temporal lobes. An additional classification test between living and nonliving categories (bottom right) yielded significant voxels throughout the brain, including temporal, parietal, and frontal cortex. The color bar indicates the t-statistics for a group-level result, in which accuracy was compared with a chance-level performance (50%) for each binary classification test.
