Diagram of the model building process. The dataset was split into a training dataset with 2/3 of samples and a validation dataset with 1/3 of samples. The validation dataset was used only for model validation. The LASSO model building process was performed 500 times using cross-validation datasets. A final LASSO model was built using the SNPs that are most frequently important for the cross-validation LASSO models.
