Notes: (A) A person who did not develop cancer during follow-up contributed person time at risk of VTE in the noncancer exposed category during the entire study period; (B) a person who developed cancer during follow-up would contribute with person time at risk of VTE in three different categories during the study period: (i) the noncancer exposed, (ii) the occult cancer exposed (starting 1 year before the cancer was diagnosed), and (iii) the overt cancer exposed starting from the date of cancer diagnosis.
