Figure 2.

Figure 2.

The levels of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGFC) and VEGF receptor-3 (VEGFR-3) in the culture supernatant of retinal pigment epithelial cells (RPE cells). (A and B) The contents of VEGFC and VEGFR-3 in the culture medium of RPE cells in the different groups. Results are the means ± SD (n=8). VEGFC was detected in the supernatant of normal RPE cells, but the levels of VEGFR-3 were quite low. Compared with the normal group, fenofibrate had little effect on the synthesis and secretion of VEGFC and VEGFR-3 in RPE cells. Following the induction of hypoxia by CoCl2 in RPE cells, the synthesis and secretion of VEGFC and VEGFR-3 was significantly increased, but after the addition of fenofibrate and incubation for 24 h, the synthesis and secretion of VEGFC and VEGFR-3 was significantly downregulated in the RPE cells exposed to hypoxia. *p<0.05 and **p<0.01.
