Open field locomotor ability was significantly improved acutely but not persistently following hypothermia. Locomotor performance was assessed from one week post-injury through eight weeks according to the Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) scale. Although a significant increase in BBB scores was observed transiently one to three weeks after injury with hypothermia over normothermic controls, both groups achieved similar behavioral endpoints by eight weeks. Data are expressed as average ± standard error of the mean.
