Comparison of the homology structural models of human and C. reinhardtii AS3MTs. Structural models of human and C. reinhardtii AS3MTs were constructed based on the structure of the PhAs(III)-bound CmArsM ortholog (PDB ID: 4KW7) and the Rox(III)-bound CmArsM ortholog (PDB ID: 4RSR). The circled view shows SAM (in ball-and-stick) occupying its binding site with its methyl group poised to be donated to the arsenic atom. The locations of the four conserved cysteine residues are shown in yellow ball-and-stick with As(III) bound to Cys156 and Cys206 of hAS3MT and Cys170 and Cys220 of CrAS3MT.
