Luteolin suppresses HNF4α activity. HepG2 cells (A, B, and D) and HEK293 cells (C) were transfected with 200 ng of the indicated reporter constructs and 200 ng of pCMV-β-Gal (A–D) and 200 ng of pFLAG-HNF4α (C) or 200 ng of pGal4 DBD-HNF4α LBD (D). The cells were cultured with medium A for 24 h and then treated with the indicated compound for 12 h. Luciferase assays were performed as described under “Experimental Procedures.” All data are expressed as means ± S.E. (error bars) (n = 3). **, p < 0.01.
