Impact of bidirectional isotope exchanges on the robustness of isotopic data to KIEs. The impact of KIEs on the isotopologue abundances of central metabolites was simulated for 80 % 1-¹³C-glucose + 20 % U-¹³C-glucose as label input, with (red squares) or without (blue squares) considering isotope exchange caused by reaction reversibility. Error is defined as the absolute difference between isotopic data simulated with and without KIEs, i.e. with alpha coefficients set to their experimental values (Table 1) or to 1, respectively
