Cancers are sorted according to International Classification of Diseases for Oncology Third Edition (ICD-O-3) code. Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus is restricted to esophageal cancers with microscopically confirmed histology codes in the range from 8140 to 8575. Myelodysplastic syndromes are excluded from cancer-specific analyses.
