Figure 6. FE factors of the single bowtie antenna and BNAs with MIM configuration.

Figure 6

(a) FE factor of the single bowtie antenna and BNAs with MIM configuration as a function of spacer thickness. a = 400 nm, a|| = 1,045, 900, 800, 900, 1,000 and 1,000 nm are chosen for t = 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 nm, respectively, for parallel coupling. a|| = 400 nm, a = 1,100, 1,100, 1,100, 900, 900 and 1,100 nm are chosen for t = 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 nm, respectively, for orthogonal coupling. The gap size of the bowtie nanoantennas is 10 nm. The field intensity is measured 3 nm above the tips of the nanoantennas. (b) Simulated reflection spectra and FE factors of the BNAs with MIM configuration as a function of the gap size. The parameters of the BNAs with MIM configuration: t = 200 nm, a|| = 400 nm, a = 1,100 nm. The field intensity is measured in the middle of the bowtie gap that is 3 nm above the top-surface level of the nanoantenna.
