Ibuprofen, diclofenac and indometacin (all 50 μM) did not affect the expression of the direct FXR target genes bile salt export protein (BSEP) and small hetero-dimer partner (SHP) in HepG2 cells after 6 h incubation. Furthermore, none of the NSAIDs (25 μM and 50 μM) antagonized the effect of CDCA (50 μM) on the expression of BSEP or SHP. (*p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001; n.s.—not significant).
