SSB suppresses M. tuberculosis RecG- and RuvAB-mediated fork reversal of substrates that contain lagging strand gap. A, effect of MtSSB and EcSSB proteins in the MtRecG- and MtRuvAB-mediated fork reversal of lagging strand gap substrates. Reaction mixture contained 10 nm 32P-labeled substrate in the presence of 1 mm ATP and 5 mm MgCl2. Reactions were carried out either in the presence or absence of indicated proteins, and the products were resolved on 8% polyacrylamide gel and analyzed by autoradiography. Lanes 15 and 16 represents markers. B, quantitative data for the reactions shown in A. The error bars represent standard error of the mean (S.E.) from three independent experiments.
