A proposed role of impaired parasympathetic regulation in cardiovascular complications in response to stress. There was no direct effect of circulating proinflammatory monocytes on heart rate or infiltration of inflammatory cells. Increase in arterial inflammation might be central for vascular complications due to impaired autoregulation.
