Effects of compounds on telomerase enzyme in MCF10A breast control cells. Telomerase enzyme activity was analyzed using TRAP assay in the MCF10A control cells. After five days of treatment, there was a significant up-regulation in telomerase activity in 15 μM resveratrol (P <0.01) treated group and combination treatment (P <0.05) when compared with the DMSO treatment. Pterostilbene (5 μM) did not show any significant change in the telomerase enzyme activity. A positive control (PC) was used in the experimental design in order to understand this up-regulation in the treated group. The difference in the enzyme activity between the treatment groups and PC was highly significant (P <0.01). Moreover, the PC displayed around 200 fold more active telomerase enzyme as compared to the experimental values. Values are representative of three independent experiments and are shown as percent of control ± SE; *P <0.05, **P <0.01
