C57BL/6 or C57BL/6 Batf3^-/- mice were left uninfected (UI) or infected IV with 1000 CFU of mE or 5X10⁵ CFU of ΔBmE. Spleen (A) and liver (B) colonization levels were determined by CFU assay on 7 dpi. The number of splenic CD8⁺ T cells (C) and ET cells (D) was determined by flow cytometry following tetramer and CD8α staining. Data shown are the summary of two or more independent experiments. Non-colonized mice were removed from analysis and P values were determined with the Mann-Whitney test.
