Figure 6

Cigarette smoke (CS) increases the lung expression of TRPA1 in mice. Mice were chronically exposed to air or CS for 4 weeks. (a) Representative images showing en face immunostaining with a TRPA1 antibody using whole lungs obtained from air-exposed wild-type mice and from trpa1 −/− mice. (b) Representative images showing lung section obtained from the lungs with the en face TRPA1-immunostaining of air-exposed wild-type mice and trpa1 −/− mice. (c) Representative images showing immunostaining with a TRPA1 antibody of representative lung sections obtained from air-exposed and CS-exposed wild-type mice. The specificity of the immunostaining was confirmed using an IgG-negative control. (d) Expression levels of TRPA1 in lung tissues were obtained from air-exposed and CS-exposed wild-type mice and were analyzed by Western blotting. p < 0.05 versus the air control group in both genotypes. Data in each group are mean ± SEM from nine mice.
