(A) The decomposition of 1 can be achieved in short reactions times (9h vs. 21d) by irradiating DMSO stocks of 1 with visible light (300W) in an oxygen saturated atmosphere. (B) Decomposition readily occurs in the absense of photosensitizer. (C) No decomposition occurs under an N2 atmosphere. (D) Decomposition in the presence of [18O]-O2.
