Cumulative release profile of Cu²⁺ and Ca²⁺ ions in phosphate buffer at pH 7.4. No significant differences for both AlgNbgCa and AlgCa 2D scaffolds were observed in the release profile. During the first three weeks of the study, the amount of Ca²⁺ ions released increased and after that and until the end of the study, a slight decrease can be noticed. Until day 21, no differences between the amount of Cu²⁺ ions released for both AlgNbgCu and AlgCu were found. From day 37 and 57, AlgNbgCu 2D scaffolds released a higher amount of Cu²⁺ ions than AlgCu 2D scaffolds. Average values ± s.d.
