(Color online) Microporous cell culture device. (a) The device is made up of a central cell culture chamber flanked by two nutrient exchange channels. (b) (1) Lines defining the pore width are patterned into a 200 nm oxide using photolithography and (2) reactive ion etching. (3) Fluidic network are then aligned and patterned over the pores in SU-8. (5) PDMS casting is then used to replicate the patterns. (6) The PDMS casting is removed and later plasma bonded to a glass slide.
